For Event Organizers

Colossus
Requirements

GFV works with selected event organizers, federations, and promoters to recognize elite champions through the Colossus Trophy and the Hall of Fame.

Event recognition is reviewed individually. The goal is not to award more trophies — the goal is to protect the meaning of Colossus.

An award request must be submitted no later than three calendar months before the event.

Official GFV eligibility standard

Competition level eligibility

Event names alone do not determine eligibility. Every competition and every proposed title is reviewed individually by GFV.

Core rule GFV PRO COLOSSUS may be awarded only at competitions of the highest sporting level, solely to the winner of the highest overall title, and only with prior written GFV approval.

4 International elite Grand Prix or invitational By exception Only for an exceptional event with genuine international standing, an elite field representing several countries, and an overall title approved by GFV in advance.

Eligibility assessment

European and continental championships

A high-level European Championship may feature an exceptionally strong field and genuine international standing. GFV therefore assesses the actual level of the event, not merely its name.

The objective is to allow prestigious continental championships to qualify while ensuring that GFV PRO COLOSSUS does not become a mass-produced or easily obtained award.

A European Championship may qualify when

  1. 1
    Official federation status

The event is officially recognised by an international federation as a European or other continental championship.

  2. 2
    Genuine continental scope

Athletes from several countries within Europe or the relevant continent take part; international status must not exist in name only.

  3. 3
    High athlete level

The quality of the field and competition meets the standard of an elite international championship.

  4. 4
    A clearly defined overall title

GFV PRO COLOSSUS is reserved for the highest overall title of the event, not for individual category winners.

  5. 5
    Request submitted on time

The organiser or federation submits the request no later than 3 calendar months before the event and receives a written GFV decision.

What GFV assesses

  1. 1
    Federation and formal status

Who officially organises and sanctions the championship.

  2. 2
    International scope

How many countries genuinely participate and the geographic spread of athletes.

  3. 3
    Athlete level

Whether the strongest and internationally recognised athletes compete.

  4. 4
    Prestige of the overall title

Whether the title represents one clearly defined highest achievement of the event.

  5. 5
    Event standing and transparency

Rules, official results, public visibility and a verifiable history.

  6. 6
    Limits on awards

How many titles and GFV PRO COLOSSUS awards may be allocated.

Not eligible

even if "European" appears in the name

  • The event is a commercial, club or open tournament without official continental championship status.
  • The participant field is essentially national, while participation from other countries is symbolic or unverified.
  • The award is proposed for the winner of a specific weight, height, age or other category.
  • The request is submitted after the competition, after the winner is announced, or less than 3 months before the event.
  • The organiser does not provide rules, participant structure, official results or other verifiable information.
