Gym Factory Verified

GFV (Gym Factory Verified) is an independent certification and discovery platform for serious gyms. The idea is simple: people should be able to find training facilities they can trust, and serious gyms should have a professional way to prove the standard they operate at.

GFV evaluates gyms through structured criteria covering equipment, hygiene, safety, maintenance, facility quality, staff professionalism, training environment and overall member experience. If a gym carries the GFV mark, it means the facility has been assessed against a professional standard.

The mark is not bought. It is earned.

The platform is an initiative of Gym Factory — an established Lithuanian training-equipment manufacturer with deep roots in strength sports — but the certification itself is run as a separate, independent evaluation unit (see Independent & Impartial below).

Every gym in our directory is catalogued, rated and ranked. A small subset — those that pass a rigorous on-site audit — earn GFV Certified status: the highest mark on the platform. Certified gyms then receive the physical Colossus sculpture for their entrance — part of the recognition package, not a separate purchase.

The Three Tiers

Every gym on the platform is classified into one of three tiers, shown clearly on every listing.

The same colour code is used everywhere — directory, map and listings: red for Public Listing, gold for Claimed Listing, and the GFV logo for GFV Certified. The physical Colossus sculpture comes with GFV Certified status — part of the recognition package, not a separate purchase.

Certified

Audited Excellence

Passed a full on-site audit across equipment, hygiene, staff and atmosphere. Marked on the map with the GFV logo, and receives the physical Colossus sculpture for the gym entrance as part of the recognition package. Re-certified every 12 months.

Claimed Listing

Claimed & Managed

The owner has proven ownership and keeps photos, hours, pricing and contact details current. Shown in gold on the map and the directory. A trustworthy starting point before certification.

Public Listing

Imported from Open Data

Sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database Licence. Shown in red on the map — accurate location, but the owner hasn't yet claimed the profile to fill in photos, hours, pricing or contact details.

What We Audit

GFV certification is not a rubber stamp. Our trained auditors assess each facility against structured, weighted criteria — covering equipment, hygiene, safety, maintenance, facility quality, staff professionalism, training environment and overall member experience:

Assessment first. Recognition second.

Equipment Quality

Condition, variety and suitability — commercial-grade plates, bars, racks, cardio and specialised kit. Broken or missing equipment drops the score.

Facility & Hygiene

Cleanliness, temperature, ventilation, changing rooms, showers, floor maintenance. We visit at peak hours so standards are measured under real load.

Staff & Expertise

Qualified instructors on floor, staff-to-member ratio at peak, availability of coaching, first-aid training, member onboarding quality.

Safety & Standards

Emergency protocols, defib access, lifting platform condition, spotter culture, child-access rules, insurance compliance.

Atmosphere & Community

Music level, lighting, spacing, how members treat shared kit, whether serious athletes choose to train here. This is often what separates a good gym from a great one.

Independent & Impartial

GFV is run as a separate evaluation unit — fully independent from Gym Factory's equipment manufacturing and sales. To rule out any conflict of interest, the system rests on four guarantees:

Independent experts

All assessments are carried out by external specialists with no link to equipment manufacturing or sales.

Separate GFV team

Certification decisions are made by a dedicated unit, fully independent from manufacturing and commercial activity.

Public criteria

Requirements are clearly defined, published, and applied equally to every gym.

Objective process

No equipment manufacturer or supplier can influence the result.

Every gym is evaluated the same way, without exception.

The Colossus Sculpture

The Colossus — polygonal steel sculpture handcrafted by Gym Factory

Certified gyms only

The Colossus

A monumental polygonal figure in calibrated S355 steel, handcrafted by Gym Factory in Lithuania. Comes only with GFV Certified status — part of the recognition package, not sold separately. Uncertified facilities cannot obtain one at any price. See full specifications →

View on Gym Factory

The steel Colossus is installed at the entrance of your facility — a physical, hard-to-fake signal that the gym behind the doors has been independently vetted and meets the highest standards in the industry. Certification comes with the digital badge; the sculpture is the permanent statement on your front wall, part of the same recognition package. If your gym fails a 12-month re-audit and chooses not to re-certify, your right to display the Colossus as a current GFV mark ends.

Why Now

The global gym market has grown dramatically over the past decade — chains have expanded, boutique studios have exploded, and online marketplaces list tens of thousands of "fitness centres" with no way to tell one from the next. Athletes travelling for competition, relocating for work, or simply trying a new city end up choosing blind.

GFV closes that gap. One global standard. One platform. One trusted mark.

Trust for the athlete. Status for the gym. A clearer standard for the industry.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does certification take?
From application to result, typically 2–4 weeks — 1 week to schedule the audit, a day on-site at the facility, and 1–2 weeks for the report, decision and contract.
How much does certification cost?
Certification pricing depends on facility size and country. We publish a quote after you submit your application. Public and claimed listings are free — you only pay for the audit and certification itself.
What happens if a gym fails the audit?
You receive a detailed report showing category scores, specific issues observed, and the gap to passing. You can reapply after about 60 days, once the issues are addressed.
Can I display the GFV badge on my own marketing?
Yes. Certified gyms receive a digital badge pack (web, social, print) and can use the mark across all their channels as long as certification is active. The physical Colossus sculpture comes with GFV Certified status — part of the recognition package, not a separate purchase.
Is the Colossus sculpture included with certification?
Yes. Certification gives you the Colossus — it is part of the recognition package. Certified gyms receive the full package: certified platform status, the GFV mark and the Colossus sculpture. The sculpture is not a separate purchase, and it comes only with GFV Colossus Certified status. Uncertified gyms cannot obtain one regardless of budget.
Is the certification applied the same way in different countries?
Yes. GFV uses one rubric — the same mandatory requirements and the same scored points — whether the gym is in Siauliai, London, Tokyo or São Paulo. We are a new platform launching now; the standard itself is consistent worldwide from day one, and recognition grows as more gyms certify and the badge becomes visible across regions.
Who performs the audits?
Trained auditors with professional backgrounds in gym operations, strength coaching, or sports-facility management. Every auditor follows the same scoring rubric so results stay comparable across regions.
Where do the ratings on listings come from?
Ratings on GFV come exclusively from verified GFV members who have visited that gym. We do not pull or display ratings, reviews or photos from third-party platforms such as Google Maps, Yelp, or TripAdvisor. Listings without member reviews show no rating. Unclaimed listings may have out-of-date contact details — always check with the gym before travelling to it.
